What is an Anglican and why would I ever want to be one?
We are an “Anglican” Church. So what? The Anglican Church is, historically, rooted in England (Angle-land). We are a Bible-centered, protestant church, reborn in the 16th century but having our foundations in the soul and soil of the first century church. Thus, we are a new part of something very old. We are also small part of something big. The Anglican Church is the largest protestant church in the world, with over 77 million members.
The Anglican Church understands that God revealed himself in Jesus (God’s Word) and in Scripture (God’s Words). We understand God’s Word and Words through tradition (what others have already learned) and reason (using our brains). We place a high value on worship, the scriptures, and the sacraments of Communion and Baptism. We have communion at every service every Sunday. Thus, in every service God touches us physically (bread, wine, touch), intellectually (reading and learning), and through sight and sound (beauty and music).
Come discover this time-tested way of worship. Our music is contemporary yet sacred. Our sermons are Bible-based yet relevant to today. We mix ancient symbols like candles and vestments with powerpoints, movie clips, and electric guitars. Who knows, you may meet God in a new, comforting way.
